Inventory count sheet

Inventory count sheet is a simple form used during a stocktake to record the physical quantity of each item. In the UK it’s often called a stock count sheet. It helps you compare what is on the shelf with what your system shows, and correct any differences.
Sheets can be blind (no expected quantity shown) to reduce bias, or pre‑filled with item details to speed up checking. You can use them for a full stocktake or for smaller, regular cycle counts. Keep the original sheets as part of your records and audit trail.
What a stock/inventory count sheet usually contains:
- Item code/SKU and description
- Location/bin
- Unit of measure
- Quantity counted (optionally a second count for verification)
- Condition/notes (e.g. damaged or obsolete)
- Counter’s name/signature and date
- Space for supervisor review and any adjustments

Practical tip
Number your sheets and mark areas as completed to avoid double counting. If you print lists from your system, hide expected quantities when doing a blind count.
